A posteriori error indicators for Maxwell’s Equations

چکیده
In this paper we shall analyze a class of a posteriori error indicators for an electromagnetic scattering problem for Maxwell’s equations in the presence of a bounded, inhomogeneous and anisotropic scatterer. Problems of this type arise when computing the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with biological tissue. We brie y recall existence and uniqueness theory associated with this problem. Then we show how a posteriori error indicators can be derived using an adjoint equation approach. The error indicators use both the jump in normal and tangential components of the eld across faces in the mesh. c © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

An hp-Efficient Residual-Based A Posteriori Error Estimator for Maxwell’s Equations
We present a residual-based a posteriori error estimator for Maxwell's equations in the electric field formulation. The error estimator is formulated in terms of the residual of the considered problem and we prove its hp-efficiency. Thus the error indicator bounds the energy error of the computed solution from above and below.
متن کاملALGEBRAIC NONLINEARITY IN VOLTERRA-HAMMERSTEIN EQUATIONS
Here a posteriori error estimate for the numerical solution of nonlinear Voltena- Hammerstein equations is given. We present an error upper bound for nonlinear Voltena-Hammastein integral equations, in which the form of nonlinearity is algebraic and develop a posteriori error estimate for the recently proposed method of Brunner for these problems (the implicitly linear collocation method)...
متن کاملAdaptive Hybrid Finite Element/difference Method for Maxwell’s Equations
An explicit, adaptive, hybrid finite element/finite difference method is proposed for the numerical solution of Maxwell’s equations in the time domain. The method is hybrid in the sense that different numerical methods, finite elements and finite differences, are used in different parts of the computational domain. Thus, we combine the flexibility of finite elements with the efficiency of finit...
متن کاملEquilibrated Residual Error Estimator for Maxwell’s Equations
A posteriori error estimates without generic constants can be obtained by a comparison of the finite element solution with a feasible function for the dual problem. A cheap computation of such functions via equilibration is well-known for scalar equations of second order. We simplify and modify the equilibration such that it can be applied to Maxwell’s equations and edge elements. The construct...
متن کاملA Posteriori Error Estimates for Finite Element Exterior Calculus: The de Rham Complex
Finite element exterior calculus (FEEC) has been developed over the past decade as a framework for constructing and analyzing stable and accurate numerical methods for partial differential equations by employing differential complexes. The recent work of Arnold, Falk, and Winther includes a well-developed theory of finite element methods for Hodge–Laplace problems, including a priori error esti...
